When considering to open a hand on the “Rule of 20” you need to satisfy two conditions.
i) You need to have a planned re-bid (usually a second suit below your barrier)
ii) You are happy to re-bid your opening suit if your planned re-bid is no longer available.
If your hand doesn’t satisfy these two conditions you should pass.
