Hi Bernard, partner opened one club, I responded one diamond and partner jumped to two hearts, right or wrong . After watching the big seminar I bid 2 spades, fourth suit forcing and partner bid 3nt. I bid four clubs showing an interest in slam but partner didn’t understand and thought, I think, that it was a cue bid, so bid four diamonds. I took the plunge bidding six clubs, contract made. Don’t think you would have approved of the bidding, but I stayed up to 1am last night to watch your seminar and jolly glad that I did.
This is a nice example – expecting 18+ for your partner’s jump rebid, I like the idea of FSF, North should really rebid 2NT now and that allows you to show your clubs with 3C – this leaves the decision with North as to whether to try for the club slam or settle for 3NT? I think I might choose 3NT on this occasion – 6C looks as if it needs quite a lot to be right – a diamond lead defeats the contract and you also need help in spades and hearts.
