Opening bid and rebid plus a 5 level decision
Hi Bernard, how should the bidding go? Richard played this one as west on Real Bridge.
Bernard's Answer
With EW vulnerable against non-vulnerable opponents - it is probably going to depend on how aggressive NS are. I would start with 1C, then perhaps north makes a 1H overcall and then a negative double. South jumps to 3H (level of the fit) and now it is tricky - since they have a fit I might be tempted to bid 4C here and that should persuade partner to bid 5C over 4H. If the opponents bid on to 5H it is East's job to double that. 5H doubled would be one off.
