Question

Hi Julian What would be your response to 2NT over your 1S opening? Love all. you hold:- S. A10743 H. A642 D. A2 C. 74 Thank you

Answer

Is this opener’s hand and you are asking about opener’s rebid? The right action depends upon your methods. With my most regular partner we only show a second suit if it has two of the top three honours in it, so that would exclude 3H. If you play that you show a singleton, that would exclude everything apart from spade bids. Since you have only 12 HCP, you might jump to 4S to show you are minimum - but partner is never going to think you have three aces if you do that. A waiting bid of 3S seems the most likely action but as I say without knowing your methods it is difficult to say for sure.
